Alan ‘sleeping, snoring,’ whiles Ken Agyapong, Bawumia far gone – Vim Lady

Broadcast journalist, Afia Pokua believes that currently, the race for flagbearership position in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is led by Kennedy Agyapoong and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

She observes that Alan Kyerematen is finding it difficult to market himself as he did in 2007 when he was contesting Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

However, Kennedy Agyapong, she believes, is making the needed inroads and can cause a surprise on the day of the election.

“As it is now, Ken, Bawumia is leading the NPP race. Alan has to talk to his campaign team because they are not giving him value for his money. His campaign team is sleeping. Kennedy Agyapong is working.

“I am not saying it’s about popularity. I’ve been in the business of analysing campaigns and politics for a long time so I know what I am saying. It’s not about popularity.

“In terms of the on-the-ground strategy, Kennedy is going to every corner so why is the campaign team of Alan Kyerematen not showing him going to the villages and every corner?”

A viral video circulating on social media has captured an incident from the recently concluded Assin North by-election, where an Electoral Commission official is allegedly seen accepting a bribe from a political party to influence the election results.

The video depicts a perplexed electoral official seated alongside a fellow colleague, while they are being interrogated by an individual behind the camera and a police officer. In the background, the police officer can be heard instructing the official to hand over the alleged bribe money, saying, “Bring it.” Simultaneously, the person behind the camera is heard urging the official to give the money to the police officer, stating, “You give the money to him, give it to him.”

As the situation unfolds, the electoral official reaches into his pocket, retrieves a stack of banknotes, and hands it over to the police officer. The unidentified commentator remarks, “Sit down,” after the money has been handed over to the police.

The video, shared on Twitter by GhanaWeb TV, accompanied by the caption “Things are happening in the Assin North by-election. An Electoral Commission Presiding officer who was bribed has been caught by the Police,” has generated significant attention and concern among social media users.

Assin North by-election: We live to fight another day – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has encouraged members of the New Patriotic Party to hold their heads up high despite a resounding defeat to the National Democratic Congress in the just concluded by-election at Assin North.

‘Didn’t you disrespect your mother? Or is she a duck?’ – A Plus fires Yvonne over ‘respect womanhood’ comment

Social commentator, Kwame A Plus, had slammed Yvonne Nelson over some comments she made about Sarkodie’s ‘Try Me’ song.

Shortly after Sarkodie’s audio response to Yvonne Nelson’s earlier allegations went viral, the latter, in a series of rants on Twitter, established that the former’s reply proves he doesn’t respect women.

“Insults won’t work Michael. Respect womanhood, I’m happy the world gets to see how you are playing this and the real you. Young women get to learn from this. You would get applause for a rap. Still doesn’t change the TRUTH,” Yvonne wrote.

But A Plus, who is also closely monitoring events, has taken to social media to express disgust at the actress’ statements.

A Plus, who has since criticized Yvonne Nelson for calling out Sarkodie in her book, has queried why she is championing a ‘respect womanhood’ narrative when all she did was to disrespect her own mother.

Kwame A Plus who had earlier lambasted Yvonne for projecting her mother for trolls, following claims of not knowing the real identity of her father has questioned the actress’ sudden claim of having the interest of women at heart.

“Yvonne Nelson says Sark should respect womanhood when she first disrespected and humiliate the woman who carried her for 9 months. Herh is your mother not a woman? Anaa she is a dabodabo (a duck)?” He wrote on Facebook.

He also asked Yvonne to keep mute and allow to Sarkodie also make some money from their rift.

That’s not all, he also patted Sarkodie on the back for a ‘good job done’.

“One book one Rap! #1B1R If you write 10 books Sark will release 10 songs. You think you are the only one who likes money and ‘fans’ abi? Madam keep quiet and let’s all cash out!! Kings Sark, the brotherhood is proud of you! Sarkodie’s reply stirs massive reactions online

Social media has since been awash with reactions following Sarkodie’s release of a track titled ‘Try Me’, which is in response to Yvonne Nelson’s claims.

One can recall that after narrating how the rapper impregnated her and denied responsibility, Yvonne Nelson, in her memoir also detailed how he drove her to a health facility where she bled profusely in his absence.

In a chapter titled ‘Abortion’, in her book, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’ the actress disclosed how Sarkodie accompanied her to the Mamprobi polyclinic for abortion and since never bothered to find out how the procedure went.

However, telling his side of the story in the single, ‘Try Me’, Sarkodie detailed that it was Yvonne’s sole decision to abort the pregnancy.

Although the rapper admitted that they had a relationship, he said Yvonne was only playing victim and taking advantage of the fact that the world listens to women more than men.

Yvonne Nelson’s rants

After dissecting the contents of Sarkodie’s reply to her earlier allegations, Yvonne Nelson has stormed Twitter with a series of rants targeted at the former.

She has since been tackling the lyrics and responding to the parts that hurts her the most.

‘Charles Opoku sika no, y?di’ – See how Assin North voters mocked NPP candidate

A section of voters in the Assin North Constituency were captured on video celebrating the victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate James Gyakye Quayson.

About a half dozen of the supporters at the back of a pickup are heard singing a song to the effect that they have spent Charles Opoku’s money.

“We have spent, we have spent, we have spent ooooo, Charles Opoku’s money, we have spent. Here is not not Kumawu,” one of them is heard adding after the chorus of their song ends.

Even before the Electoral Commission formally announced results, NDC supporters took to the streets celebrating their victory citing wins in New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongholds in the constituency. EC makes formal declaration:

Gyakye Quayson was announced the winner after the Electoral Commission of Ghana officially declared him as the Member of Parliament-elect.

According to the Electoral Commission’s announcement, James Gyakye Quayson garnered a total of 17,245 votes, representing 57.56% of the total votes cast.

His closest contender, Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 12,630 votes, accounting for 42.15% of the votes.

Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party Ghana (LPG) secured 87 votes, which represented 0.29% of the overall tally.

Going by the figures from both outfits, it is clear that the NDC’s collation was watertight and that the system put in place was robust enough to deliver polling station outcomes in a timeous manner.

Analysts, however, warn that this is for one constituency but the parties will now have to focus on rolling out a system to collate two levels of results come 2024 – the national presidential vote and 275 parliamentary results.

About the Assin North by-election:

The by-election in Assin North was held to fill the parliamentary seat left vacant following a legal battle that questioned Quayson’s eligibility to hold office due to dual citizenship concerns.
