Unemployed arraigned for stealing mobile phones 

Enchi (WN/R),- A 19-year-old unemployed has appeared before the Enchi District Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing three mobile phones valued at GH¢1,800.00.

Charged with unlawful entry, causing damage, and stealing, Raymond Donkor, alias Apisco, pleaded guilty to the three counts.

However, the court, presided over by Mr Eric Baah, remanded the accused person and deferred the sentence to Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

The prosecutor, Detective Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Agyare, said the complainant, Barikisu Seidu, is a trader and resided at Jema, while the accused resided at Omanpe, both in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

He said two weeks ago, the accused went to Jema to visit his wife and cousin, Saviour, who happened to be the complainant’s husband. 

On January 26, 2022, at about 1830 hours, the accused gave his mobile phones to Savior and collected a cash sum of GH¢50.00 and promised to refund the said amount later to retrieve his phones. 

Detective Agyare said on January 27, 2022, at about 0100 hours, the accused unlawfully damaged the mosquito net used by the complainant to fence her porch, entered the room unlawfully, and made away with three mobile phones and a cash sum of GH¢620.00 belonging to the complainant.

He said after the theft the accused went into hiding at Omanpe but was later arrested and charged with the offence after investigations.
