Techiman MHIS registers 5,000 new members

Techiman (BE/R),– The Techiman South Municipal Health Insurance Scheme has registered 5,000 new members to enjoy the benefits of the Scheme, Mr.

Seth Amponsah, the Acting Manager of the scheme has said.

In addition, he said the Scheme had successfully merged insurance cards of more than 5,000 members with the Ghana Card, to facilitate access to quality health care services in the Municipality.

Mr Amponsah explained the new members were registered during a special registration exercise in line with the just-ended week-long sensitization programme held in the Municipality to create awareness about the merger of the two identification cards.

He explained registration exercises were conducted at market places and lorry stations, as part of the awareness creation.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Techiman in the Bono East Region, the Scheme Manager explained the waiver given to first time registrants to access immediate health care, instead of waiting for three months as done previously was still in progress.

He explained the scheme had sensitized a greater percentage of members on the merging of the identification cards and expressed the hope that cards of all members would be merged as well.

Mr Amponsah indicated the scheme had also reinforced and ensured service providers provided quality health care services to members and advised those yet to register to do so to benefit from its packages.
