There was a declaration by the Superior Court of Judicature in the High Court of Justice to support the position.

The declaration states: “That in accordance with the customs of Osu, the Osu Dzaase upon the death of Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, appointed Nii Ako Nortei IV, (the Osu Mankralo) on the 16th day of March, 2021 to be the Acting Osu Mantse until a substantive chief is enstooled in accordance with the customs and traditions of Osu.”

The Osu Kinkawe Dzaase made this known in a statement titled: “Osu Chieftaincy, The Way Forward!!!” and read by Mr Benjamin Adukwei Quaye, the Head of Adukpono at a news conference at the Osu Mantse Palace in Accra on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

The statement said: “The accredited Osu Kinkawe Dzaase is working hard to ensure that no individual persons shall be allowed to arrogate non-existing powers to him or herself in an attempt to satisfy his or her parochial interest to disrupt the ancient customs and traditions of the Osu Traditional Area.”

It urged the citizens of Osu to continue to remain calm as they did since the demise of the late Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuon in the interest of peace and stability of area.

“The Osu Kinkawe Dzaase is presently preoccupied with preparations towards the funeral and burial rites of the late Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona, which will take place soon and at the appropriate time, the Dzaase led by Nii Saban Atsen VII will do the needful by following due process to install the next Osu Mantse,” the statement said.

The Osu Kinkawe Dzaase re-emphasized its commitment and assurance to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and all stakeholders that they would work with the Owuo We Royal Family, Amantra-Osu to ensure that the nomination and selection process would be fair and transparent to allow for the installation of the right person as the next Osu Mantse to avoid future litigations.
