My second Division team would have performed better than Black Stars at 2021 AFCON – Charles Taylor

Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko legend, Charles Taylor has taken a swipe at Ghana Football Association [GFA] president, Kurt Okraku, after Black Stars’ poor performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Cameroon.

Ghana who were chasing their fifth continental title were eliminated from the 33rd edition of the tournament at the group phase with just a point after three games played.

The Black Stars suffered a defeat against Morocco, a draw with Gabon before suffering a 3-2 defeat to debutants, Comoros.

Following the disappointing performance of the team, the Ghana FA have been criticized with many calling for the resignation of Kurt Okraku.

Taylor, who once played for the Black Stars, speaking on the performance of the team disclosed that he has never seen the Black Stars display such horrible football since his birth.

“Kurt Okraku has become worse to the extent that ever since I was born and started playing football, I haven’t seen Ghana exit AFCON at the group stage with 1 point,” he told Ghanaweb.com.

“Even if I use my second Division team we would have gotten good results,” he added.

The Black Stars meanwhile, will return to action later this month for their 2022 World Cup playoff games against Nigeria on March 25 and 29 respectively.
