Akayonga (U/E),– Hajia Anisa Iddrisu Sahiba, the National President of Lajna Imaillah Ghana, the Women’s wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission has asked Muslim women to make their children’s education a priority and pay critical attention to their needs in school.
She said children were the country’s future leaders and needed to be given the necessary care and support to realise their full potential to the benefit of their families and country.
“As women, we need to take care of our children and ensure that they go to school, especially the girl child. They need to go to school until they graduate before marriage,”
Hajia Sahiba said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akayonga, in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, as part of her nationwide tour of the country to interact with the Lajna Imaillah members.
She urged them to co-exist peacefully with their neighbours, devoid of quarrels and fights.
The National President reminded the members that it was a Quranic injunction that Muslim women could marry one man, but their men were permitted to marry up to four women.
“So if your husband asks for permission to take a second or even a third wife, yours is to pray that whoever is coming should come with peace so you co-exist because our teachings as Ahmadis, is that if we are asked to make way for our neighbour to settle, we obey.”
Speaking on the Green Ghana project, after she and her entourage planted trees around an ongoing mosque construction in the Akayonga community, the leader urged her members in the community to nurture the trees to grow.
Hajia Sahiba said the Green Ghana project was an opportunity for them to expand their tree planting scope as they had already started the tree planting exercise in January 2021.
“We planted trees in some Regions.
We did some at Shai Hills in the Greater Accra Region, about 3,000 plants and for the past days, we are in the Northern Sector to continue with the planting to mark our Century Celebration in 2022,” she said.
The National President, who is also referred to as Sadr, noted that it was incumbent on Lajna Imaillah members to ensure that the plants survive, “we have to give an account of these plants to our international headquarters because it is an international programme.”
Mr Jaladeen Abdulai, the Upper East Regional President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission said the Lajna Imaillah had over the years contributed significantly to the Ahmadiyya movement across the country.
He said all the wings within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission were entreated to embark on activities to improve society and the lives of people.
“Collectively the Ahmadiyya community has been building mosques, but one of the wings to start from foundation to the end is the women group. They have built schools, the first Day Care Centre to be constructed in the Upper West Region was done by the women’s wing,” he noted.
Mr Abdulai, who is also the Upper East Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), used the opportunity to thank the women leadership for the visit to the Region and wished them well in their endeavours.
