Peki (V/R),- Mr Godwin Kwame Dadzawa, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of South Dayi in the Volta region, has pledged to support any development activity in the district to transform the lives of the people.
He said fulfilling the developmental needs of the people remained his topmost priority, hence any initiative aimed at enhancing the development of the area would have his full support.
Mr Dadzawa made this pledge in an interview with the Ghana News Agency when he donated an undisclosed amount of money to the chiefs and people of Peki-Tsame, a farming community in the district during their Youth Week Celebration.
The DCE said he was committed to the development of the district and that the donation was to support the development initiative of the chiefs and the people, and called for support from all to move the district forward.
Mr Dadzawa said the rapid socio-economic development the district had been yearning for could only be achieved through a collective effort, thus the need for all to be on-board to champion the transformation agenda.
While commending the chiefs and the people for the initiative, he also charged other communities to emulate them by mobilising funds to execute development activities.
He said though the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo was doing its best to bring development to every part of the country, community self-help development initiatives were crucial in supporting government’s efforts to achieve the desired target.
The Youth Week Celebration was instituted by the chiefs and the people of Peki-Tsame to raise money to carry out development projects to accelerate the growth of the community.
Togbe Baduvie IV, Chief of the community told GNA in an interview that development of the community was dear to his heart and that the initiative was a way of letting the people contribute their quota towards enhancing the progress of the area.
He said the event was also to revive communal spirit in the youth and to involve them in decision-making and development activities of the community.
Togbe Baduvie charged the youth to respect traditional authorities, be law abiding citizens and avoid acts that threatened peace and security.
He bemoaned the deplorable nature of the road linking Peki Government Hospital to Afeviofe within the community and appealed to the government to fix the road to avert any fatality.
Mr Sebastian Okyere, Assembly member for Peki-Tsame speaking to GNA underscored the need for indigenes to undertake initiatives that were tailored at enhancing the growth of their communities.
