Hohoe (V/R),- Mr Daniel Noble Awume, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), says he plans to introduce awards as a form of support towards healthcare delivery in the Municipality.

He said recognition of efforts of health workers would enhance performance of the Municipal Health Directorate as well as enhance individual output.

Mr Awume was addressing the media during the 2021 Annual Performance Review of the Municipal Health Directorate and Hospital, commended the healthcare delivery in the Municipality although there was room for improvement.

He said it was his plan to make the Municipality a Health tourism hub where people beyond the area would visit to access health services.

Mr Awume said there was the need for improvement in service providers for people who access health care, especially the aged.

He noted that a lot of people in turn sought healthcare services from other facilities outside the Municipality, which was not the best.

Mr Philip Darko, Hohoe Municipal Health Information Officer, in a presentation noted that teamwork was their strength.

He said inadequate staff, delay in payment of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) claims, poor communication and road networks, closure of borders and hard-to-reach communities such as Wli-Todzi were challenges.
