Tema, – The Reverend Minister Solomon Nii Mensah Adjei, Clerk of the Ga Presbytery has pledged infrastructural support for the Tema Presbyterian High School (PRESEC) to enhance academic performance.
Rev Adjei pledged during a visit to the school for a brief tree planting ceremony activity to mark Green Ghana Day by Tema Presbyterian church.
The Clerk stated during an interaction with Madam Dora Darko Danquah, the Headmistress, revealed that their concern had been drawn to the fact that, the school lacked infrastructure and certain amenities so they are making effort to solve the problem.
According to him, attempts were made last year to devote resources to improve the infrastructure of the school but the COVID-19 hit the agenda; “I know you would be vacating soon, but measures are being put in place so that by the time you resume, our promise to help the school would materialize”.
Touching on COVID-19, the Presbytery urged the teachers and the student to wear the nose mask and observe government directive because coronavirus was still in the wind.
He took the opportunity to advise teachers to set good examples for the students.
Rev Lawrence Kwesi Tete who is also the Board Chairman of the school appealed to the government to complete the dilapidated Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) project to prevent any unseen accident occurring before the District Assembly, government, and others rush to help them.
Rev Tete said PRESEC Tema was one of the Presbyterian schools within the Ga Presbytery in the Greater Accra Region, others include, Osu, La, Nungua, and Legon but they can only brag with Legon in terms of infrastructure and academic straits bemoaning the performances of the rest.
He pleaded with stakeholders and government to come to their aid saying, “the students used to be under trees five years ago but Grace congregation built six-unit blocks for the school, the other pavilion was built by Tema Metropolitan Assembly and there is still the need for more classrooms to accommodate student population”.
