DEPUTY MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT LAUNCHES TREEPZ RIDE HAILING SERVICE

A deputy minister for Transport, Hon. Frederick Obeng Adom has said, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service would soon commence the implementation of some policy decisions and measures to reverse the rising trend of road traffic fatalities in the country.

He also urged all transport operators to support these measures as they work collaboratively to improve the safety and security of drivers, pedestrians and vehicles. “We all, as road-users, especially drivers, and pedestrians must exhibit discipline and responsibility whilst driving, walking or crossing the road. Let us work together to complement Government’s effort at ensuring safety on our roads”, he noted.

Hon. Frederick Obeng Adom made these remarks when he launched the Treepz Ride Hailing Services at the Movenpick hotel in Accra.

Assuring the management of Treepz Technologies, the deputy minister mentioned, Government will provide them with the requisite support to make their investment worthwhile, while they also abide by the rules and regulations governing the transport sector in the country.

He said it takes a lot of planning, commitment and willpower to start, nurture, grow and sustain a business of this nature especially in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the transport and logistics value chain. In addition, he congratulated the team for standing against the odds and starting such a venture.

He added, he was particularly excited about the ceremony because of the opportunity it offered to further boost commitment to scale up the adoption of technology in the transport sector to ensure efficiency in service delivery and ultimately achieving government’s digital transformation agenda.

He applauded the private sector for the continued role they play in the development process of the country through job creation assuring them of the government’s willingness to also create an enabling environment for the private sector to grow and reap the value of their investments.

Treepz Ride Hailing Services is a Ghanaian and Canadian partnered company that offers a fantastic opportunity for both drivers and users in the form of increased choices and lower cost of transport services.

The company is starting its services with fifteen (15) brand new Toyota and Hyundai mid-size buses (11–15 seater) which are to be deployed to provide ride hailing services in Accra for the start. The number of buses is expected to scale up to 100 by the end of the year 2022.

One needs to download the Treepz app and sign it to be able to request to join their buses to and from their destinations.
