COCOBOD distributes 2,000 pieces of chocolate to school children in Western South Region

Afranse(W/R)- Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has distributed 2,000 pieces of chocolate to some selected schools and two cocoa farmer women cooperatives from Diaso and Treposo in the Western-South Cocoa Region.

Beneficiary schools are the Bompieso MA JHS, Afranse Methodist Basic school ‘A’ and Dunkwa Asikuma MA Basic school, Mpeasem Primary school and Afranse Methodist Basic school ‘B’.

The Western South Manager of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Mr Samuel Ankamah, disclosed this to the GNA on the sidelines as part of celebrations of the National chocolate Day at Afranse in the Wassa-Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region.

The move formed part of measures to conscientise Ghanaians to patronize Chocolate and other cocoa products such as milo.

Mr Ankamah stressed the need to consume more of such products to boost the immune system for a healthy nation.

The CHED Manager said COCOBOD would assist cocoa farmers with the desired farming inputs to increase productivity.

COCOBOD also donated 780 pieces of chocolate to the Afranse Methodist Basic school in honour of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, who is an old boy from the school.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Wassa-Amenfi Municipality, Mr Frederick Korankye, thanked COCOBOD for the gesture.

He appealed to Ghanaians to consume more Cocoa products.
