Richard Kingson: Ex-Ghana goalkeeper opens up on why he wants to coach Barcelona

Former Ghana international, Richard Kingson has disclosed that he wants to coach Spanish giants Barcelona because he has what it takes to handle the side.

After hanging his boots, the ex-Wigan Athletic shot-stopper has ventured into coaching.

Although he has not yet handled any side, he has played roles as goalkeeper’s trainer for the Black Stars and a few Ghana Premier League clubs.

According to the ambitious coach who is still learning the trade, he fancies coaching Barcelona to handling the Black Stars team.

While stressing that coaching the Ghana national team is just like coaching any lower division side, Richard Kingson says he is capable of coaching Barcelona.

“Coaching the Black Stars is something like coaching second division, third division. I want to coach Barcelona because I know I have what it takes to do it.

“So coaching Black Stars is not something extraordinary,” the former goalkeeper told 3Sports in an interview.

Richard Kingson, 42, enjoyed an impressive playing career where he established himself as a top goalkeeper for Ghana while playing for clubs in England, Turkey, and Greece.

He has set his sight on coaching to the highest level as well.
