Bolgatanga,World Vision International (WVI) in Ghana, has put up a multi-purpose office complex for the Births and Deaths registry in the Upper East Region.
The project which was started by the Kufour administration in 2000, was stalled.
The project is valued at GH98,000 while internal fittings cost including the internet accessibility and other network infrastructure was valued at $11,500.
Mr Gregory Dery, Child Protection and Advocacy Manager of WVI who announced this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said office furniture, computers and accessories provided by the UNICEF had been installed.
He said the WVI connected the facility with an internet facility to facilitate the processing of Deaths and Deaths certificates.
Mr Dery said the erratic nature of burying the dead in the region was undermining the capturing of data, cause of death, category of the age bracket who were dying and measures by agencies concerned to arrest the situation.
He called on the people in the region to patronise services of the registry when it comes into full operations.
