Popular rap group, ‘Asakaa Boys’ have debunked claims that they smoke marijuana.
In an interview with Delay, the group stated that they do not smoke the forbidden substance even though they sing about it in their songs.
They indicated that their songs portray the everyday hustling lives of the average Ghanaian youth which is contrary to claims by most critics that their songs have negative impact on the youth.
“At the end of the day, one cannot cover things up when it comes to our generation. It is all about money, sex, drugs and other things so there is no need to hide it.
“We are not the first people to talk about these things in our songs. It is a fact, it is going on. We see people who do these things, it is a craft. It is the same as movies which are inspired by people’s life stories,” Kweku DMC, a member of the group stated.
Another member of the group, City Boy added that their lyrical contents portray the tough lifestyle of the slams where they grew up.
