Volta welcomes Bagbin with fanfare

Accra- The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region has stirred up for Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and his bid to lead the NDC into the 2020 election.

In what can be described as a big sign on the wall for him, the Voltarians thronged up to mob the NadowliKaleo MP who visited as part of his campaign trail.

Sights and sounds from the respected MP’s visitation included; a hearty Borborbor dance that was performed in his honour as a welcome gesture in Ho.

The Second Deputy Speaker took Volta North and Ho, the Regional capital on the first leg of his tour of the region after he had written to the NDC national leadership to officially declare his intent to run for the 2020 flagbearership of the party.

He then headed to Volta as his first point of call on the official campaign trail.

As part of the hearty welcome, the NadowliKaleo MP was treated to endless selfies by Voltarian delegates who were meeting him on a personal level.

The radio airwaves in Nkwanta also played music a band specially composed for him.

MrBagbin, met executives and delegates of the NDC to sell his campaign promise to strengthen party structures as leader and govern the country in conjunction with the party as President if he wins in the 2020 election.

The MP promised not to abandon the party and its delegates as President, like was done to the party in the past and also promised to position the party to help and reward delegates, members and technocrats who sacrificed for the party in various ways and diverse forms.

After a successful meeting with the party executives, the NadowliKaleo MP also met chiefs and traditional leaders of the area to pay homage and officially announce his presence.

Away from the official engagements, Ho, the Volta regional capital was agog and the whole town stirred up by two songs that a musical band recorded for the NadowliKaleo MP before he undertook the first leg of his visit to Volta.

The songs; ‘Vote for Bagbin’ and ‘Come and save Ghana’ were composed for the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament for free.

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament was accompanied by many political heavyweights including current and former Parliamentarians.

MrGershonGbediame, a former Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South described MrBagbin as a greater leader with a unique brain power, who together with late President Mills and former President Rawlings, demonstrated love for the region.

Apart from the fact that MrBagbin is the father of Ghana’s Parliament and well connected worldwide, he occupies many party positions including; National Executive Committee Member, Functional Executive Committee Member and a Member of the Council of Elders of the NDC.

I have worked with him in Parliament for many years and in comparison with other flagbearer hopefuls, he is the best to lead the NDC in 2020 for us to re-capture power, I am happy that he enjoys a lot of support in the region The Volta NDC guru and former MP said.
