Supporters of Ashanti Gold SC are weeping after hearing of the club’s demotion from the Ghana Premier League to the Division Two League.

After finding the Obuasi-based club guilty of match manipulation for the game against Inter Allies FC last season, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana FA has cracked the whip.

In a press release from the GFA on Monday, May 16, 2022, it has confirmed that Ashanti Gold SC has been demoted from the Ghana Premier League to compete in Division Two.

After receiving the news, some fans of the club run to the club’s secretariat to express displeasure to officials.

In a video, a few fans are heard singing and noting that club majority shareholder Kwaku Frimpong has caused the doom of the club.

Chairman Kwaku Frimpong has been banned from football for 10 years with club CEO Emmanuel Frimpong also slapped with a ban of eight years.
