VC appeals to Ghanaians to patronise locally made products

Sunyani (B/A), Professor Kwadwo Appiah-Adinkra, the Vice Chancellor of the Sunyani Technical University, has appealed to Ghanaians to develop the taste for and patronise made in Ghana products to help build the local economy.

He said it was untrue that locally manufactured products were inferior.

The Vice Chancellor was speaking at an exhibition organised by the Department of Visual and Industrial Arts of the University in Sunyani on Friday.

It offered the opportunity for the Department to showcase its products to the public and honour students who performed excellently.

Prof Appiah-Adinkra said graduate-unemployment could end if tertiary students opted for technical education.

He said technical education offered the best opportunity for students to be self-employed and advised parents to allow their children to opt for that training

Dr Edem Cleveland Atiase, the Head of Department of Visual and Industrial Arts, said the Department changed its name from Painting and Decorating after it attained a university status.

He said the Department offered Higher National Diploma in Fashion Design Technology, Textile Design Technology and Ceramic Art.
