Unemployed convicted for defiling girl, 4

Accra, A 29-year old unemployed Lawrence Nartey who defiled a four-year-old girl at Nima has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court

Nartey, charged with defilement, pleaded guilty.

The court presided over by Mrs. Marian Affoh convicted Nartey on his own plea.

It, however, remanded him into Police custody and further ordered the Police to send the convict to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital for examination.

According to the court, the convict appeared not to be normal and needed psychiatric examination.

Nartey is to reappear on May 29.

Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo said the complainant is a fashion designer residing at Nima, Accra and a father of the victim.

Nartey, prosecution said, reside at Kanda, Accra.

ASP Boafo said on May 5, this year, at about 12:00 noon, Nartey visited the house of the victim’s grandmother where he saw the victim playing with other kids

Prosecution said Nartey later lured the victim into a small room which served as an entrance to the house.

Nartey, prosecution said, inserted his finger into the victim’s vagina and when he noticed that the victim was bleeding, carried her to the grandmother and bolted.

The victim’s grandmother raised an alarm and he was arrested.

The complainant reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Nima and a medical form was issued to him to send the victim to the Hospital.

Prosecution said the victim was later rushed to the theatre when they reported at the Police Hospital.

Police said Accused person admitted defiling the victim.
