Anaji (WR), May 31, GNA – A three-member delegation from the Palermo Municipality of Italy have visited the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly as part of the Twin-city in Sustainable Partnership Project.

The Twin-city in Sustainable Partnership Project is a three-million-Euro project being funded by the European Union within three years.

The project is geared toward addressing the challenges of rapid urbanisation, climate change, exclusion, unemployment, irregular migration, and preparedness to battle infection and disease outbreaks.

The three-day transnational exchange visit under the project brought in Professor Mario Zito, the Councilor of Culture for Palermo Municipality, Lawyer Francesco Campagna, Honorary Consul of Ghana in Sicily, and Mr Francesco Bellina, an Artist.

The delegation first visited the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry where the group were exposed to the numerous business opportunities in the Region, particularly tourism and hospitality.

Mr Vincent Annan, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber mentioned some innovative products of the Chamber to include, including research and training to help local businesses and therefore called on the team to enhance their relationship through a Memorandum of understanding.

Mr Francesco Campagna an Honorary Consul of Ghana in Sicily, who was impressed by the chamber’s activities prayed for more cooperation and promotion of a stronger business bond that would ensure to the benefits of all parties.

The team also called on the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah who said the project was timely to shape the future of the Region.

He in that regard called for appropriate mechanisms and technology for the manufacturing and the general business environment of the Region.

Mr Campagna also prayed for a strong architecture of cooperation which would eventually see the fulfilment of all the indicators under the partnership in line with Sustainable Development Goals.

The team is also expected to share their expertise with the STMA project lead on public policies for the conservation of cultural heritage, and good practices for management of cultural diversity, participation, and inclusion.

Other activities for the team include meeting with the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Centre for National Culture and the Arts Department of the Takoradi Technical University as well as participating in the maiden Senior High School Art Festival.
