TGMA 2024: Announce me as Artiste of the Year for 2019 – Stonebwoy to Charterhouse

Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has called on the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards to officially announce him as the winner of the 2019 VGMA Artiste of the Year.

It can be recalled that in 2019, the much-anticipated title was withheld by the organizers of the VGMAs following a fracas involving Stonebwoy and rival Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.

Stonebwoy had been announced as Dancehall Artiste of the Year when Shatta Wale stormed the stage with his entourage, engaging in a tussle with Stonebwoy’s entourage, which resulted in Stonebwoy brandishing a gun.

The two artistes were subsequently barred from the awards scheme, and the category was never announced.

Fast forward to 2024, Stonebwoy, who was announced as the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year, took to the stage to claim that he was the winner of the Artiste of the Year category for 2019.

He urged Charterhouse to announce him as the winner of the 2019 Artiste of the Year.

“I won the Ghana Music Artiste of the Year in 2015. I won it a
gain in 2019, but we all saw what happened.

“So, I just want to plead with Charterhouse, as honourable as they are, to make sure that they announce the winner, which I’m confident was Stonebwoy for 2019, and then again in 2024,” he said.
