Navrongo: Sunlight Media has launched a subsidiary radio station, Mike FM, in Navrongo in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region. The radio station, operating at a frequency of 105.3MHz with the tagline ‘your credible voice’, aims to foster community engagement by informing, educating, and entertaining the public. It seeks to spark positive public conversations to stimulate accelerated and inclusive development.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Castro Senyalah, the General Manager of Mike FM, emphasized during the launch that the station is not just a collection of frequencies and broadcasts but a symphony of voices, a tapestry of stories, and a heartbeat resonating within the region and beyond. He noted that their mission is to be the soundtrack of listeners’ lives, accompanying them from dawn to dusk.
The General Manager further explained that Mike FM would provide insightful content catering to the interests of various audience groups. This content aims to empower listeners with the
information and education necessary to contribute significantly to nation-building. Mr. Senyalah highlighted that Mike FM is more than a source of entertainment; it is a platform for community engagement that connects individuals across social classes. He stressed the power of radio in fostering understanding and creating a sense of belonging.
Mr. Senyalah invited the public to join the journey and share their thoughts and feedback to help shape the radio station’s future. He emphasized the station’s commitment to integrity, passion, and excellence. Citing the words of legendary broadcaster Paul Harvey, he stated that Mike FM would not only report news but also spark conversations, challenge perspectives, and encourage critical thinking.
In a speech on behalf of Mr. Michael Achagwe Luguje, the Chief Executive Officer of Mike FM, it was noted that the station’s mission and vision could only be realized through hard work and quality programming that resonates with the people. Mr. Joseph Adongo, the Municipal
Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana, commended Mike FM’s management for their innovation. He urged them to implement inclusive policies that consider the area’s diverse population and to operate fairly, non-partisan, and non-tribal to ensure the station’s longevity and public service.
Pe Abayage Barnabas Anonkore, Chief of Pungu, who chaired the function, expressed his belief in Mike FM’s role in telling community stories, enhancing connectivity, and promoting local culture for sustainable and inclusive development. He encouraged collective support for the station as a powerful source of information, inspiration, and unity for the community.
