STMA Rotary club inducts new members
Takoradi Thirteen Rotarian Board members have been inducted into office for the Rotary Club of Sekondi-Takoradi for the year 2018/2019 .
The Board is to guide the club to continue with community engagement, needs assessment as well the as provide basic needs to the underprivileged.
The focus of the club, over the years had been purely humanitarian, the promotion of member participation in club activities, businesses and periodical turnover of vital community issues in their operational areas.
The immediate past President, Mrs Anita Griffiths Buaku, recollecting past events, mentioned that the club was able to admit nine members to strengthen their membership, solidify their front in creating lasting changes across the globe, communities and among individuals.
The club under her leadership, also screened more than 400 women and men on Breast Cancer under the theme: Boobrisky as part of effort to stimulate, promote and coordinate the club’s community service projects.
The Sekondi-Takoradi Rotary Club, engaged in the repainting of 20 pedestrian crossing in the Metropolis to help curb road accidents, distributed clothes to Trebuom community in the Mpohor district and with the support of the Ghana Health Service, administered dewormers to the residents.
MrsBuaku stated that the future of Rotary largely depended on a strategic and conscious plan to nurture the interest of the younger and promising Rotarian partners in order to continue to offer valuable service to humanity.
Mr Charles Thompson Jnr, the current president in accepting the position said; in line with the international Rotary President Barry Bassin’s vision of: “Rotary be the inspiration”, the club would continue to execute social intervention projects in the six areas of focus of Rotary in order to be the inspiration to Rotarians and translate it to communities and the world at large.
The Rotary Club, he said would undertake the expansion of the treatment room at the Kwesimitsim Hospital, construct a borehole at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Bus Stop Shed at Airport Ridge, tree planting exercise and other relevant projects.
He emphasised that the club would continue to come out with strategies to retain and encourage new members to contribute towards Rotary Foundation so as to render support to the new generations.
The newly elected and inducted Sekondi-Takoradi Rotary Club President, encouraged his fellow Rotarians not to rest on their laurels because the club had tremendous assets in the area of membership, branding, service projects that has made a lot of impact in the lives of the people they serve.
