Seven Great Princess Academy has held a Cultural Day celebration for students as parts of efforts to instill the Ghanaian Cultural in them at the school’s Dansoman premises in Accra.
The maiden event saw the students clad in their traditional apparel to display the cultural dances.
The festival was packed with lots of activities which include poetry recitals, display of colourful costumes and make-ups by various traditions.
After the event, a section of the students interviewed expressed excitement and expressed the hope that the event would continue.
The Assistant Director of the School, Yvette Brown said she expected next year’s event to be mega.
She thanked the students and the organisers for the commitment to ensure the event was successful.
She said it was time for students to know their culture and such events were the practical ways of making them know their culture and traditions.
Ms Brown said modernity coupled with increasing interest in social media was believed to have corrupted the youth and it behooves educational institutions like Seven Great Princes Academy to lead the way of getting the youth back on track.
The Ga traditional group performers were adjudged the best on the day
The cultural day is a celebration of various tribes, traditions and culture of diverse students from the 10 regions, the African continent and Europe in the school.
