Sekondi Orthodox Anglican Church donates to Sekondi Central prisons.

Sekondi (W/R)- The Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana, Diocese of Saint Peter and Paul the Apostles, Sekondi has donated items worth Gh7,000.00 to the Sekondi Central Prisons in the Western Region.

The items include soft drinks, food stuffs, used clothing, disinfectants, hair dryers and many others.

The Most Reverend Dr Edward Kwamina Minnah, Archbishop of the Dioceses who presented the items on behalf of the Church said the annual gesture by the church has always been spearheaded by the “Good Shepherd Fellowship”, a society in the church.

The Archbishop said the donation was in fulfilment of Matthew 20: 31-46 which directs that the needs of the poor and those in trouble in the society should be catered for.

Most Rev. Minnah in this regard admonished the government to ensure a healthy and decent environment in the Prisons to ensure the proper transformation of the inmates.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Regional Commander, DSP Sulley Yakubu thanked the church for the kind gesture and pledged that the items would be given to the inmates accordingly.

He appealed to others churches and benevolent organizations to emulate the Orthodox Anglican Church and come to their aid.
