Respect the privacy of Atsu’s family – Agent cautions as player’s whereabouts remain unknown

Nana Sechere, the agent of Ghanaian international footballer Christian Atsu, is calling for calm amid the player’s condition.

He has called on journalists to consider the feelings of the winger’s family and stop disseminating conflicting reports until an official statement comes out.

Following a recent earthquake along the borders of Turkey and Syria, Atsu was said to have been missing under the rubble of the earthquake, which was followed by a second tremor that claimed the lives of over 9,000 people so far.

Though many reports say the player has been rescued and hospitalized, Nana Sechere claims the said medical facility is yet to be revealed to them.

In what many have interpreted to mean that the player may still be missing under the rubble, the agent shared on Twitter: “Following yesterday’s update from the club that Christian had been pulled out alive, we are yet to confirm Christian’s whereabouts.

“As you can imagine, this continues to be a devastating time for his family, and we are doing everything we can to locate Christian.”

He continued, “Official updates will be provided as more information comes to light. Please respect the families’ privacy during this harrowing time and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated news as this will only hamper the search efforts for Christian.”
