Residents of Keta Praise Mahama’s Initial 120 Days in Office


Keta: Residents of Keta in the Volta Region have commended President John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling many of his commitments made for his first 120 days in office. They expressed appreciation for the President’s efforts in addressing some of the country’s pressing issues, aiming to alleviate the plight of the majority in the area.



According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dzidefo Isaac Aborhor, a businessman in Keta, noted in an interview that President Mahama’s promise to tackle significant challenges within the first 120 days demonstrated his dedication and commitment to instilling hope among Ghanaians. “We are impressed with the President’s commitment to keeping his promises, and we are hopeful that he will continue to deliver on his campaign promises,” he stated.



He further mentioned that many residents are optimistic about the President’s policies, which are expected to improve the economy, create jobs, and enhance overall well-being for better development and progress in the country. Mr. Aborhor appreciated the President’s commitment and accountability efforts, believing that his ability to report progress within the initial 120 days showcased a commitment to transparency in governance.



Mr. Gabriel Dzramdo, an Educationist, expressed excitement over initiatives in education and healthcare, such as free tertiary education for persons with disabilities, a no-academic fee policy for first-year students in public tertiary institutions, and the establishment of the Mahama Cares Health Fund. He highlighted efforts to host an Education Dialogue as a positive step forward.



Mr. Anthony Dagadu, an Economics and Policy Analyst, remarked on the President’s good start in fulfilling his promises. He noted that the prospects for Ghana look promising under President Mahama’s leadership, with an emphasis on transparency, accountability, and economic growth. Mr. Dagadu highlighted the nomination of Cabinet Ministers for parliamentary approval within the first 14 days, the formation of a lean government, and the abolition of certain levies as commendable actions.



He also praised initiatives like establishing a robust code of conduct for government officials, providing free sanitary pads to female students, and instituting policies to ban political appointees from purchasing state assets. Mr. Dagadu advised the government to enact stronger policies against illegal mining in forest reserves and to purge state security agencies of militia elements.



Other residents of Keta, who interacted with the Ghana News Agency, pledged their support for President Mahama’s continued efforts toward fulfilling his campaign promises, improving the lives of Ghanaians, and promoting economic growth.
