Professor Humphrey Danso Elected as AAMUSTED Alumni Association President


Kumasi: Professor Humphrey Danso, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, has been elected as the President of the alumni association of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED).



According to Ghana News Agency, Professor Danso secured his position with 144 ‘yes’ votes against 3 ‘no’ votes in an uncontested election. He will lead the association for the next two years, following the conclusion of the second national congress held at the university’s Kumasi campus.



Dr. George Asante, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Information Technology Education (DITE), was elected as Vice President, defeating the incumbent Mrs. Millicent Pimpong with 92 votes to her 52. Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Peprah retained his position as Organiser, overcoming Mr. Elijah Otis Awuni with the same vote tally of 92 to 52.



Messrs. Immanuel-Best Dabie Kyeremeh and Derrick Kofi Sarpong were elected as Secretary and Financial Secretary, respectively, without opposition.



Professor Danso, in his post-election address, expressed his commitment to advancing the association’s goals and praised the outgoing executives for their contributions. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and unity among members to achieve the association’s objectives.



The congress, themed “Addressing Unemployment in Ghana, Role of the AAMUSTED Alumni,” featured speakers like Prof. Charles Baba Campion, Prof. Isaac Boateng, Prof. Emmanuel Appiah-Kubi, and Prof. Ebenezer Bonyah, who addressed various issues pertinent to the alumni and the broader community.
