President revokes Sarah Adwoa Safo’s appointment

Accra, July 28, GNA – President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of Sarah Adwoa Safo, as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

 

A statement issued by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin said the President’s order that is in accordance with Article 81 (a) of the Constitution, takes immediate effect.

 

It said the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecelia Abena Dapaah would continue to act as caretaker minister for the ministry “until such a time that President Akufo-Addo appoints a substantive minister.

 

Ms Safo, who is the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, sought from the President in 2021 leave of absence from office in 2021 for personal reasons.

 

The President granted the request, which should have ended on August 31, 2021

 

However on October 6, 2021, the President extended the arrangement and asked the Madam Dapaah to act in her stead until further notice.
