President Akufo-Addo suspends NSA Board Chairman over Australia debacle

Accra- President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has suspended Mr Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Sports Authority (NSA), with immediate effect.

A statement issued on Thursday and signed by Mr Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, said the President took that decision following preliminary investigations conducted into the circumstances surrounding the arrest and deportation of 60 Ghanaians, who attempted to enter Australia falsely in the on-going 21st Commonwealth Games.

This follows the suspension of Mr Pius Enam Hadzide, the former Minister of Youth and Sports and Mr Robert Sarfo Mensah, the acting Director General of the National Sports Authority on same account.

The statement said Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, and the Chef-de-Maison for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Mr Mohammed Sahnoon, together with the three suspended officials are to assist the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in the ongoing investigations into the matter.
