Police Intercept Trucks Carrying 150 Bags of Indian Hemp in Eastern Region


Apesua: The Eastern Regional Police Command successfully intercepted two Howo Sino tipper trucks carrying 150 sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. The operation took place yesterday at Apesua near Nkurakan, where the trucks were found with their illicit cargo concealed under tips of sand.



According to Ghana News Agency, a press briefing by Superintendent of Police Ebenezer Tetteh from the Regional Police Command’s Public Affairs Unit disclosed the operation. The trucks, identified by registration numbers GN 993-14 and GG 3674-20, were stopped and inspected, leading to the discovery of the concealed sacks.



The police have arrested two suspects, whose names have not been disclosed, suspected to be the drivers of the tipper trucks. They are currently assisting the police in their investigations. Superintendent Tetteh assured that the general public would be provided with updates on the case as more information becomes available.
