Paramount Chief calls for improvement of Navrongo roads

Navrongo (U/E), Dec 14, GNA – Good roads are catalysts for accelerated development, Pe Denis Aneakwoa Balinia Adda Asagpaare II, Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region, has said.

 

He, therefore, urged the government to take steps to address the poor road network in the Municipality to accelerate the needed development in the area.

 

He noted that the road networks in the traditional area were in a deplorable state and called for urgent attention.

 

“When the roads are opened up and accessible, it would be attractive investors to the area and support smooth implementation of projects and programmes geared at improving on the livelihoods of the people in the area,” the Paramount Chief stressed.

 

Pe Asagpaare II made the appeal through the media at Navrongo at the launch of the maiden edition of Inter-Community Soccer Tournament organized by his office.

 

The tournament, to be held annually, is meant to foster and sustain peaceful coexistence among the people of the traditional area to accelerate socio-economic development.

 

The Paramount Chief stated that “to start with development, you need roads and my main aim is to open up roads in Navrongo.”

 

He said the traditional council was prepared to support the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly to bring the needed development to the people.

 

He said the area was endowed with potentials, especially in the area of agriculture, adding more attention was needed towards assisting the youth to engage in meaningful livelihood ventures.

 

Mr Gabriel Adobi Balinia, Chairman of the Planning Committee of the Tournament, said the tournament was seeking to create a platform for stakeholders in the area to outline some of the major challenges and strategize to address them.

 

Sixteen teams from 13 communities would take part in the tournament between December 15, this year to January 20, 2022.
