Painter remanded over narcotics

Accra An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded Allotey Laryea, 54, into Police custody for the supply of narcotics drugs without lawful authority.

The accused pleaded not guilty and would reappear on Monday, May 14.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector K. Adu told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the accused was also a Painter and resides at Teshie 31st.

He said on April 24, the Kpeshie Divisional Police Command had information that the accused was trading in narcotic drugs around the Teshie Aduemi public toilet.

He said a team of Police personnel were dispatched to the scene and the accused on seeing the Police took to his heels but the Police gave him a chase and arrested him.

The Prosecution said a search on him revealed eight wraps of whitish substance suspected to be narcotic drugs and cash in the sum of GH302.00.

He said the exhibits are being forwarded to forensic laboratory for examination.
