Odebrecht Ghana supports KNUST’S 2018 career fair

Accra� Odebrecht Ghana, a leading Engineering and Construction Company with more than 70 years’ experience, has supported the College of Engineering of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s (KNUST) 2018 Annual Career Fair, in Kumasi.

The Career Fair hosts thousands of students, especially those pursing disciplines in Science and Engineering.

A statement by issued by Odebrecht, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the Company, had for more than three years, been supporting the College of Engineering of the KNUST in many productive ways.

The statement said since its establishment, Odebrecht Ghana continued to invest in the human resource base of Ghana by supporting important educational activities to produce professionals for industry.

It said Odebrecht Ghana had career-building opportunities for students and they were in the form of internships and young partners programme. These were specially designed to help students gradually transform into professionals with technical competencies that matched international standards, it said.

The statement said excited students of the College that visited the Odebrecht Ghana booth at the Career Fair expressed admiration at the magnitude and finesse of the projects that had been successfully executed by Odebrecht across the world and expressed desire to work for the company in future, should they get the opportunity.

Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah, the Provost, on behalf of the college thanked Odebrecht Ghana for the continued support to the College and the deliberate investment in enhancing the capacity of students of the University, the statement said.

Ms Vanessa Ashun, in charge of Human Resource at Odebrecht Ghana, said Odebrecht Ghana was focused on encouraging and motivating students, including females, to learn and overcome challenges, and to pursue careers in the engineering field.

This was expected to make them valuable addition to the national human resource base and help them launch out on a professional career path with international standards.

This is one of the Corporate Social Responsibility commitments of Odebrecht in Ghana, she said.
