Accra: The Nneka Youth Foundation, a non-profit youth empowerment organisation, has engaged in strategic collaborations and programme implementations, focused on development and capacity building to leverage women empowerment and entrepreneurship. The collaborations and programmes ranged from women empowerment, skills development, educational support and opportunities in the agricultural activities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs Cecilia Fiaka, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nneka Youth Foundation, disclosed that the Foundation was privileged to be part of the Accelerating Change Through Innovation Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTIVATE) project. She stated that the project, led by Social Enterprise Ghana, aims to drive positive change and economic growth in the agricultural sector by empowering women and youth through skills development, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Mrs Fiaka highlighted that the Foundation also benefitted from the launch of the ‘Women in Colour’ initiative by Coral Paints, which offered women in the industry a one-month training. The first cohorts of this initiative were enrolled from the Ningo Prampram and Shai Osu-Doku Districts.
Additionally, the Foundation introduced the Nneka Digital Skills Training in Graphic Design and Entrepreneurship, with support from the Afadzato South District Education Directorate. The Foundation also hosted the BMF Foundation, supporting the Nneka Education Logistics Support Scheme, allowing 17 tertiary beneficiaries to connect with sponsors and share success stories.
Mrs Fiaka mentioned that the Foundation met with Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, to strengthen relationships with the Regional Coordinating Council. Their discussions highlighted the initiatives and transformative work accomplished over the years while exploring collaborative avenues to support youth and women in the region.
Moreover, a stakeholder engagement with the Volta Regional Education Directorate was held to deepen opportunities for collaborative efforts, reaffirming commitment to empowering youth and fostering a holistic approach to education and leadership.
Mrs Fiaka concluded by emphasizing that these initiatives underscore the Foundation’s commitment to empowering individuals and driving community development. She expressed gratitude to all partners who have joined them in their mission to ‘Transform Africa One Child at a time’.
