NLA commence exercise to arrest, prosecute unlicensed lotto operators

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) is from today, Monday, November 1, 2021, starting an exercise to clamp down on unlicensed lotto operators in the country.

The exercise follows a press release from NLA in October where it declared war on all unlicensed lottery operators.

“NLA would like to encourage OPLs to take steps to regularize their operations. Effective 1st November 2021, NLA, in collaboration with the security services, will clamp down on all unlicensed lottery operators to sanitize the lotto industry,” part of the statement from NLA said.

With the deadline due, the NLA is today starting its operation to close down and prosecute all persons operating illegally in the country.

Already, the NLA has completed the licensing regime for private operators for the year 2021/22 as announced in its statement last month.

All operators are to take note and also ensure to work within the laws of NLA or face sanctions if flouted.

The NLA under Samuel Kwabena Awuku as its Director General is bent on sensitizing the industry.

The National Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) since his appointment in August has been working to make the NLA as viable as it ought to be with the aim of accruing more money for the government.
