New GPHA Boss Evaluates Keta Port Administration Block Construction

General

Kedzi: Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA), has toured the ongoing construction site of the Keta Ports and Harbour Administration office block project at Kedzi in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region. The visit was to assess the progress of the ongoing construction project and the necessary steps for improvement and progress of the work.

According to Ghana News Agency, Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono expressed the government’s commitment and readiness for the continuation of the project and pledged that funding and other forms of support would be provided for the progress of a successful project. He remarked, “This is my first visit here so l don’t have much to compare now and maybe the next time that l come here, l will be in a better position to express my opinion but so far, so good.”

He also noted his disappointment about the progress of the ongoing construction project, which he described as moving at a slow pace and in need of support to meet the stipulated time of completion for the benefit of the nation, as well as the entire Volta and Keta communities. Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono commended stakeholders, chiefs, groups of constructors, and all communities for their roles in supporting the development and progress of the project and appealed for continued support until the project’s completion. “I am expecting the work to progress more beyond what l am seeing today, but this is what l have inherited and there is nothing to complain about rather than to continue the project from where it has been left,” he stated.

Mr Yaw Gyamfi Boateng, the Chief Executive Officer of PSB Realty Limited, the construction firm responsible for the ongoing Keta-Port and harbour administrative office project, disclosed that the building was initially scheduled to be completed in November 2025 but had been delayed due to some challenges. He stated that the building project is 23 percent complete, adding, “we are praying that if everything goes on according to what we have planned and with all other supports from government, by March 2026, l am sure we will complete with sixth floor building together with any other work here.”

Brigadier General Tanye-Kulono and his team took the opportunity to visit Togbi Joachim Acolatse V, the Paramount chief of Kedzi Traditional Council, in whose jurisdiction the construction project is ongoing. The team also visited Togbi Sri III, the Overlord (Awamefia) of Anlo State, and other chiefs, who pledged to provide all necessary ideas and support for the project’s success.
