National Youth Authority trains 258 youths in Volta

Ho- The Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Youth Authority (NYA) has graduated 258 youth who participated in a three-month Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship Course.

The youth, who completed courses in Social Media Marketing, Website Design, Crowd Funding and Proposal Writing were presented with customised tablet computers to enhance their activities.

Mr Emmanuel Asigri, the Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, said the Authority’s core mandate was to develop the youth in Ghana, with a population of about 16 million between the ages of 15 and 35.

He said it was crucial for the youth to take advantage of the digital space and urged the graduates to use the training acquired to develop their entrepreneurial initiatives and encourage their colleagues to also enrol.

Mr Asigri said trainees in the Volta Region had shown serious commitment to the programme and commended heads of the local assemblies for supporting its implementation.

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, asked the trainees to brace themselves for the risks associated with self-employment and work hard to employ others.

“Discipline is required to sustain a business and you must be willing to invest and expand,” he stated, and advised them to cultivate positive saving attitudes.

Focus Fiave, a trainee, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, said the programme had motivated them to devise ways of solving problems in society adding that some have opted to become trainers.

He said they had also been challenged to find more productive uses for social media and appealed to stakeholders to expand the courses of the programme.
