Accra: The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has approved Professor Douglas Boateng’s pioneering book on boardroom governance. Following a rigorous independent review, the publication titled ‘Practical Perspectives on Boardroom Governance’ has been praised for its clarity, accessibility, and real-world relevance.
According to Ghana News Agency, the book is written in an easy-to-understand style, distilling complex boardroom concepts into practical insights. This makes it a valuable guide for a wide readership, including CEOs, board directors, policymakers, tertiary students, and senior high school learners. The book is authored by Professor Douglas Boateng, a respected authority on supply chain governance, industrialization, and boardroom leadership, with a career spanning over three decades.
Professor Boateng has advised governments, global institutions, and multinational corporations across five continents. He stated, “Leadership begins with understanding and understanding must be inclusive. This book is my personal and professional contribution to nurturing a continent-wide culture of ethical, competent, and future-ready governance.”
Professor Boateng is a registered chartered engineer with the UK Engineering Council and a long-standing member and Fellow of the Institute of Directors UK. He is also a Fellow of both the Ghana Institution of Engineering and the Institute of Directors-Ghana. In 2024, the Institute of Directors-Ghana formally honored him with the Director of the Year Award for his contributions to boardroom professionalism, good governance, and industrial development in Ghana and across Africa.
Reverend (Mrs.) Angela Carmen Appiah, President and Chair of the 10th Governing Council of the Institute of Directors-Ghana, noted that the publication is timely for the continent’s governance evolution, offering practical and transformational insights for directors.
