MP presents 52-seater bus to St. James Seminary/SHS

Abesim-Sunyani, May 31, GNA – Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East has presented a 52-seater brand new bus to the St James Seminary/Senior High School (SHS) to facilitate general students’ movement outside campus.

The MP said he lobbied for the bus from the Ministry of Education following an appeal by the school.

At a short ceremony held at Abesim, near Sunyani, Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh lauded the school’s excellent academic performance in the past years, saying the government would also continue to provide the necessary support to the school.

The MP advised the students to obey instructions of the teachers, remained disciplined and maintain the excellent performance of the school in the West African Senior High School Examination (WASHSE).

Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh emphasised St James was among the best SHSs in the country, and entreated the students to regard it as a privilege to gain admission and asked them to take their studies seriously.

He urged authorities of the school to ensure regular maintenance of the bus, and called on the drivers to also obey road traffic regulations and signs to prevent accidents.

Reverend Father Herbert Ansu Kumi, the Rector of the School expressed appreciation to the MP, the government and the Ghana Education Trust Fund for their continuous support to the school, which had created conducive environment for academic progress.

He promised to ensure the bus would be utilized for academic purposes, and appealed to the MP to support the school to complete some on-going projects. 

Mr Ansu Kumi, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive advised the students to shun unhealthy lifestyles that could truncate their education and ruin their future.

He said the Municipal Assembly was also working hard to ensure that educational facilities were improved in the Municipality to facilitate effective teaching and learning in schools.

Earlier in a welcoming address, Rev Fr. Godwin Tawiah, the Vice Rector, Academics of the school appealed to the MP to facilitate the completion of the school’s science laboratory project.
