Malawian Delegation commends government on flagship programmes

Accra The Malawian Delegation to Ghana to understudy Ghana’s agricultural sector has commended government for the various flagship agricultural programmes and projects being implemented.

Mr Henry Msatilomo, the Project Coordinator of the delegation, made these remarks after the delegation had met with agencies under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and toured some agricultural sites in the country, on Friday in Accra.

He cited programmes such as the Planting for Foods and Jobs, Rearing for Food and Export, Youth Graduates in Greenhouse Technology, among others, as social interventions worth emulating, adding that, these were programmes they would recommend when they get back to Malawi.

He said the Rearing for Food and Export was a special programme that had useful potential for the country’s export sector, adding that, the programme would drive the country’s industrialisation agenda, just as the others.

He expressed delight in the Youth Graduates in Greenhouse Technology project, saying the youth was the future of every country and should always be considered in every policy of government that is rolled out.

It is always a delightful sight to behold when you see the youth eagerly involved in agricultural programmes, he said.

Dr Yanira M. Ntupanyama, the administrative head of the delegation, commended the ministry as well as its agencies for their warmth reception and assured the ministry that the delegation had learned a lot on their visit and would implement most of these interventions and projects in their country.

George Boahen Oduro, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, who hosted the delegation, congratulated them for their understudy and visit.

He said the various worth-emulating projects of government in the agriculture sector was geared towards the country’s industrialisation agenda, adding that, government was committed to making the country export driven rather than import driven, and that the only way they could do that was through enhancing the country’s agricultural sector to improve the lives of its people.
