Lawyer leads NDC in Central Region

Kasoa (C/R)- A Private Legal Practitioner, Mr E.K.T Addo has received an overwhelming endorsement with 299 votes to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region as its Chairman.

Mr Addo beat his fiercest contender, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah the former Regional Minister and an experienced politician who polled 157 votes and a businessman, Mr Kakra Yalley who bagged 256.

The Election, supervised by the Electoral Commission was held on Saturday at Kasoa to elect party executives to steer its affairs ahead of the 2020 polls.

Mr Theophilus Aidoo Mensah was elected as the Vice Chairman when be bagged 366 votes as against 143 by Stephen Moore, Paa Nii Lamptey, Abeiku Aggrey, Alfred Halm and Danaiel Ohene Darko who vied for the same position.

There was a tie in the Regional Secretary position as two of the contenders, Kojo Quansah and Nii Commey Adams polled equal number of 288 votes each ahead of three others, Kweku Hayfron, Elvis Amoasah and George Ebo Crentsil.

Kofi Matthew also beat Eric Offei to become the Deputy Regional Secretary as Peter Kofi Owusu Ashia and Nana Oseibi Quansah could not garner the needed votes cast to beat Michael Dery for the Deputy Regional Organizer slot.

Other positions included; Eric Essuah, Regional Treasurer, Victoria Pobee Woode, Deputy Regional Treasurer, Kwesi Dawood, Regional Communication Officer, Lawrence Ghartey, Deputy Regional Communication Officer, Alhaji Rashid Abubakar, Regional Zongo Caucus, Faustina Naa Lamiley Lamptey, Regional Women Organizer.

1,200 delegates voted for the 13 Regional executives,

Addressing the delegates after the polls, the Regional Chairman expressed joy for the confidence reposed in him and assured that he would work tirelessly to enable the party win the 2020 election.

He called for greater unity for the growth of the party.
