Koforidua Pentecost Church donates to prisoners

Koforidua (E/R), GNA The Church of Pentecost, Koforidua Area Women’s Ministry has donated various food items, clothing and toiletries to the inmates of the Koforidua Prisons.

The items which are worth GH?6,000.00 include bags of sugar, bags of gari, assorted soaps, cartons of milk, milo, sandals, towels and toiletries.

Speaking to the media after the presentation of the items, Deaconess Selina Badu the Area Women’s Leader of the Church of Pentecost- Koforidua, said the donation formed part of the church’s social responsibility and a way to evangelize and show love to the inmates.

She said the inmates are part of the society and that not all of them are criminals.

Ms Badu called on other churches to visit the inmates on a regular basis and urged the inmates to learn from the present situation they find themselves and accept Jesus Christ as their ”Lord and personal saviour ”

The Deputy Commander of the Koforidua Prisons, Chief Superintendent Joseph Asabre appealed to philanthropist, organizations and individuals to support the expansion of a workshop project to offer more inmates the opportunity to learn various vocations.

He said the project which used to serve as the tailoring shop, when completed would help the inmates to acquire other skills as electronics, beads making, basket and sandals weaving.

He said the project would also need equipment to be used in training the inmates.
