KNUST Lecturer Enstooled as Togbi Ekpe-Subo of Anlo-Afiadenyigna.

Kumasi: A School of Medical Sciences lecturer from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has been enstooled as Togbi Ekpe-Subo V of Anlo-Afiadenyigba in the Keta Municipality. Dr. Francis Jojo Damalie, who is a renowned fertility specialist, has taken on the mantle of traditional leadership following a thorough search and scrutiny for a successor to the late Togbi Ekpe-Subo IV of Dome-Kpornuga, Anlo-Afiadenyigba.

According to Ghana News Agency, the enstoolment process for the new chief began during the funeral of the late Togbi Ekpe-Subo IV on October 19. During the ceremony, Dr. Damalie was taken into seclusion, accompanied by Mr. Danwise Kwashi Ameshimeku, Coordinator of Sponsorship at Plan International, and Madam Kafui Yevu, a caterer, who will serve as his Agbotadua (assistant to the chief) and Queen, respectively. An official coronation ceremony will be held at Anlo-Afidenyigba, with traditional pomp and pageantry, on a date yet to be announced by the Ekpe-Subo Royal f
amily.

In addition to his new role, Togbi Ekpe-Subo is a Senior Specialist Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and a fertility consultant at Hallmark Medicals, both located in Kumasi. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from KNUST and is a Fellow of both the West African College of Surgeons and the Ghana College of Surgeons. He also completed a Postgraduate Master’s Degree in Reproductive Medicine from the University of New South Wales School of Women’s and Children’s Health, Australia.

Togbi Ekpe-Subo is also recognized for his philanthropic efforts. He co-leads the Volta Health Network Plus (VHN+), a non-profit organization of health professionals in Ghana and abroad that provides multi-specialist medical outreaches in various districts and municipalities in the Volta region and other parts of Ghana. He is married and has four children.
