The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has overwhelmingly endorsed the nomination of Mr. Osei-Asibey Antwi by the President as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE).
Out of the total of 133 members of the assembly, 132 voted yes for him with only one person, dissenting.
This was at an emergency meeting it held in Kumasi on Friday.
The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) and on hand to observe how things went, was the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah.
Mr. Osei-Asibey’s nomination was announced in a communication from the Presidency, last week.
He thanked the assembly for the trust and support, and pledged to work with everybody to speed up the development of the metropolis.
He gave the assurance that he would do everything to ensure that traders, especially hawkers in the Kejetia area, had a convenient place to carry out their business.
