Kadjebi E.P Central JHS classroom block not abandoned – DCE

Kadjebi (O/R), Mr Wilson Agbanyo, the Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE), has said the three-unit classroom block for Kadjebi Evangelical Presbyterian (E.

  1. P) Central Junior High School (JHS) has not been abandoned.

He said the classroom block with office, ICT Laboratory and store, which was completed in September 2020, had not been deserted as the Assembly wanted to furnish it with desks, teaching and learning materials before handing it over for use.

He said the items were almost ready and that the edifice would soon be inaugurated for use.

Mr Agbanyo disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi in the Oti Region in response to the reported abandonment of the project.

He underscored the importance of education and said it was his topmost priority and that he would do everything possible to improve its standing in the District.

He said education was the bedrock of development and so would be given the necessary attention for progressive change in the country.

Mr Agbanyo said as the government played its part to ensure that every school was provided with the needed infrastructure and logistics, it behoves parents, teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector to also play their roles.

He urged parents to invest in their children, especially the girl-child, education to enable them to acquire knowledge and skills required for national development.

The DCE also cautioned parents not to sacrifice their children’s education because of poverty but consider them as assets and ensure their proper training and development.

Ms Gifty Obeng, the Headmistress of the School, said the new DCE had visited the school and promised to fix the problem.

She said although the keys to the edifice were in her possession, they could not move in because of the lack of desks and other teaching and learning materials.

Ms Obeng, who was also the Kadjebi District’s 2014 overall Best Teacher, said 60 students in Form One “A” and “B” studied in the E.P Church Chapel because of classroom deficit.

She said even where the Form Two and Three’s had their classes’ leaks profusely anytime it rained and therefore, appealed to the Assembly to fix the problems on the new classroom block early so that they could move in.

Ms Obeng also appealed to non-governmental organisations (NGOs), philanthropists and old students to provide them with Textbooks, Projector, Computers and accessories and other teaching and learning materials for effective teaching and learning.
