Akomadan (Ash), July 15, GNA – Mr Augustine Collins Ntim, Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, says he will continue to work and collaborate with all key stakeholders to bring development projects to the people in the area.

He said it was relieving to see citizens able to access basic life needs, and that was what was gradually happening in the Offinso North District.

Mr Ntim, who is also the Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, pointed out that, with the current spate of development projects going on in the area, the district would soon become a secondary city.

“I am envisaging that the district will be upgraded into a municipality by year 2025 with the necessary institutions and infrastructure in place.

This is in sync with the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to work in a decentralized system such that every Ghanaian community will have emerging secondary cities, and typically Offinso North is gradually developing into a secondary city,” he observed.

Mr. Ntim who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akomadan, after inspecting some on-going development projects said in the last 12 years, he had worked closely with the District Assembly and the traditional authorities to initiate the establishment of a few higher educational institutions as part of efforts to open up the area.

Among them are the National Paramedics Training Center for National Ambulance Service at Nkenkaasu, infrastructure improvements at the Wiafe Akenten Senior High Schools, Rural Economic Development College and the Community Development and Vocational Training School.

Again, there is an on-going construction of the Local Governance University, an institution meant to train the state and non-state actors in local governance.

“We are looking at a situation whereby if we really want to train all the assembly members, coordinating directors, engineers and planning officers, then there is a school for them” he told the Ghana News Agency.

Mr Ntim, touching on road projects, said a 36-kilometre road was currently being worked to improve transportation in the area.

He said roads linking Bechem-Akomadan-Afrancho enclave as well others to link up the western side of the Bono and Ahafo Regions were also being worked out.

These roads upon completion, would connect commuters from the Western North Region to Tamale without going through Sunyani.

The Deputy Minster was hopeful that the road projects would be completed speedily to bring relief to the people in the area.
