Popular entertainment journalist with Accra-based Citi TV has said he will rather prefer supporting outsiders to people he knows or has a relationship with.

He noted that the ones he supported due to their relationship turn to be the worst.

According to him, he dislikes the phrase “support your own” in the entertainment industry because many of those who advocate for it are self-centered.

Kwame Dadzie went on to say that those who advocate for the ‘support your own’ slogan are actually those who need it but will not support others if the tables are turned.

“One thing I hate to hear nowadays is “support your own.” I have stopped supporting my own. I now support who I am touched to support. Some of “our own” are selfish.

“I have realised that in our part of the world when someone starts blowing the “support your own” trumpet, then ebe dem dey hia the help. Sia! Such people don’t like helping others,” he stated

He stressed one of the main reasons he has stopped supporting his own people is that some of his colleagues in the entertainment industry sometimes find interest in a content that has been published by others on their websites or YouTube channels and even make content out of them, but they will never share the link or embed it in their content to push the person behind that art.

“Your own media/entertainment colleague will go to your website, find interest in your story, decide to share on their pages but will never add the link. They will just take a screenshot. They will see your YouTube video and instead of sharing the link, they will take a screenshot and share. They will do a story from your video but will not embed the link.

“Sia! They like the content but they don’t want you to progress. They steal your story on top without giving you credit. Siato,” Kwame Dadzie made these statements on his Facebook page on Sunday, June 26, 2022 sighted by ModernGhana News.
