Former Ghana coach, Charles Kwabla Akonnor has said he will be elated to return to Asante Kotoko as head coach.

Akonnor, 47, was sacked after nine months in charge at the Kumasi-based outfit in July 2019.

The former Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold SC head coach guided the Porcupine Warriors to the group stage of the Confederations cup in 2018.

However, speaking in an interview, Akonnor reveals that he will be very elated to join Asante Kotoko again.

“For me returning to Kotoko will be on a different level. Kotoko was full of joy and though I went through a lot of pressure it was a positive one,” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

Charles Kwabla Akonnor has been without a team since parting ways with the Ghanaian national team, Black Stars, last year.

Asante Kotoko who will represent the country in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League are currently without a substantive head coach following the resignation of Prosper Narteh Ogum after less than 10 months in charge.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Premier League is scheduled to commence on 9th September.
