He needs to be appreciated better — Stonebwoy on Asamoah Gyan’s complaint of lack of appreciation by Ghanaians

Stonebwoy, a reggae-dancehall artist, has backed legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan recent comment that Ghanaians do not appreciate the works he did for Ghana.

The former Black Stars skipper said in a recent BBC interview about his intention to represent Ghana at the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

He also complained about Ghanaians’ lack of appreciation for his contributions.

In response, the multiple award-winning musician says he supports Asamoah Gyan’s claim, explaining in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM on Monday, August 22, monitored by Modernghana News, that those who project the image of Ghanaians globally need a better appreciation for their efforts.

“What Asamoah Gyan said is true,” said Stonebwoy. “I think we can do better at celebrating people who have worked so hard to put Ghana on the map.”

He stressed, “It’s really important that we have to just deliberately focus on making sure that we sing people’s praise and give them the flowers they deserve.”

The “therapy” hitmaker further asserted that the recognition and appreciation should not be for Asamoah Gyan alone but for everyone who has made an immense contribution to the country.

“It’s not going to start in Asamoah Gyan’s time only – people before him who have done well for the country deserve to be celebrated too. It’s a mindset we need to adopt,” he said while on a tour to promote his Ashaiman to the world concert.
