Kumasi Asante Kotoko suffered their first home setback of the season: against Kpando Heart of Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium. Kwadwo Obeng Junior’s first-half goal for Heart of Lions secured all three points for his team, who have proven a difficult side for the Porcupine Warriors in recent matches. Kotoko suffered their second consecutive loss, following last week’s setback to Legon Cities, which dropped them to third place.

According to Ghana News Agency, after losing to Gold Stars last week, Accra Hearts of Oak rebounded with a stunning 2-0 victory over Medeama SC at the TNA Stadium. Kwabena Boateng and Mawuli Wayo were on target for the Phobians as they recorded their third win of the season and moved up to eighth position on the league table.

League leaders Bibiani Gold Stars dropped points for the first time at home this season after being held by struggling side Dreams FC. Dreams FC were reduced to 10 men after Richmond Tetteh was sent off in the first half, but Gold Stars failed to capi
talise.

Nations FC, who hold the league’s best away record this season, picked up three points on the road against Karela United. Faisal Charwetey’s stunner for Nations FC was enough to earn them maximum points, propelling them to second position, three points behind league leaders, Gold Stars.

Accra Lions recorded their fourth successive draw after being held by defending Ghana Premier League champions Samartex at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Abdul Shaun Abubakari gave Lions the lead in the first half, but a late goal by Samartex’s Benedict Afful ensured that spoils were shared at the end.
